=JupiterLily is one of those deviants who has a well-rounded gallery and a recognizable style when pixeling. Two words come to mind when looking in her gallery: deceivingly simple and sweet. For this reason, she is one of the inspiring iconists that were interviewed for the Icons & Handhelds-week.
How long have you been active as an iconist and what was it that first drew you towards the community and art form?
I started in October 2010 so it has been more than a year now. I'd begun to really admire pixel icons and was interested in learning how. It wasn't until I came across a pixel icon contest that I finally tried my hand at it and found that I really enjoyed it. My entry actually managed to be one of the first place winners, so I became encouraged that I wasn't bad at it and thus I kept trying to improve.
What do you draw inspiration from?
It may sound silly, but I really like to make cute icons. Seeing other cute things inspires me. I also like to make icons of my favorite characters.
What are your tools when creating art?
Do you have tips to give or tricks to share for the particular programs you might use that could help beginners out?
I rely solely on Photoshop these days.
I find that often Photoshop likes to desaturate the colors of any .gif I post to the internet.
Click on view - proof setup - Monitor RGB. It will show how your .gif will currently look on the internet. You can fix the colors from there.
Who is your "idol" within the community and why?
Definitely =Berryness.
I have always loved her art, including her pixel icons. She just has a way with colors, everything she makes looks so beautiful and colorful and happy.

Thank you!
